Roanoke County police arrest three for abduction and attempted robbery
Roanoke County police are still investigating the case of a 62-year-old man who was taken at gunpoint from outside his home near Vinton Thursday morning. The unidentified victim told police a gunman forced him to drive to Valley Bank on Starkey Road. The gunman made him stop and pick up a woman on the way.
Police say when they got to the bank, the victim and the woman entered the building. The man handed papers to the teller to withdraw money--along with a warning. The teller hit the alarm and the man outside with the gun took off. Police later recovered a handgun they believed to have been used in the crime in a dumpster behind the WFIR building on Electric Road.
Police arrested three people. Barbara Assan, 32, and John Miller, 19, are charged with abduction, attempted robbery and a firearms charge. Tiffany Brown, 21, was charged with conspiring to commit robbery and abduction.
